RF to USB Master Unit

The RF to USB Master Unit is used to interface slave units to a PC or embedded controller via USB. It handles all the translation from wireless to serial and can transmit and receive data to and from slaves or other master units. It uses the RFM69CW-433-S2 ISM transceiver for the wireless connectivity and has a micro controller that handles the wireless to USB conversion.

The RF to USB Master Unit does not do any data conversion so it is a generic interface allowing designers to send any data over and handle it differently in software. Using two RF to USB Master Units it is possible to make a wireless connected serial interface, thus the serial data sent to the one unit is transmitted by the other and vice versa. This can be ideal where installing cables is difficult or where isolation is required between the two sides.

WiFi connectivity can be added by connecting a TTL serial WiFi compatible module to the exposed hardware serial lines of the microprocessor. An optional ESP8266 WiFi module can be added which has been tested to work with the RF to USB Master Unit.
